Summary The Small Engine Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing small engines used in outdoor power equipment, such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, and snow blowers. This role includes diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine service, and providing support to customers both in person and through remote or virtual consultations. The technician advises customers on necessary repairs or maintenance, ensures that equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications, and maintains detailed service documentation to support both in-shop and virtual service interactions. Candidates must have a modern smartphone with an active internet connection to efficiently manage orders and assignments through the company app. Proficiency in navigating mobile applications, digital platforms, and app-based workflows is essential for seamless task execution and communication.

Compensation ranges from $37,440 to $62,400 per year, based on experience and availability.

Job Specifics
  • Diagnose mechanical issues in small engine-powered equipment (e.g., lawnmowers, chainsaws, snow blowers).
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug inspections, and carburettor cleanings.
  • Repair or replace faulty components such as belts, spark plugs, and fuel systems.
  • Provide customers with clear explanations of necessary repairs and maintenance recommendations.
  • Document service work performed and ensure accurate records are kept for each job
  • Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and operates at optimal performance.
Qualifications and ExperienceQualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of small engine mechanics.
  • 1+ years of experience working with small engines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot engine issues.
Experience
  • Certification in small engine repair.
  • 3+ years of experience in small engine maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Previous customer service experience
