Position Description: Senior Azure Cloud Engineer with Project Management Experience Position Summary (Must be US Citizen)
Crest Security Assurance is seeking a skilled Azure Cloud Engineer with 5–7 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure, Windows IT administration, and cloud networking. The Azure Cloud Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and efficient Azure environments supporting enterprise and mission systems.
This position requires a deep understanding of Azure infrastructure services, Windows Server and Active Directory administration, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and system hardening following STIGs or CIS Benchmarks. The ideal candidate will also have experience using Microsoft Intune and Azure tools to connect, configure, and manage physical and hybrid devices, as well as developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for rapid, repeatable deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a project Road Map/Plan (MS Project or Excel) that breaks out the task and subtasks for the project
- Design, deploy, and manage Azure cloud environments, including virtual networks, compute, and hybrid integrations.
- Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy in both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments.
- Configure, deploy, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments for multi-user access and enterprise workloads.
- Implement system and cloud hardening following DoD STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and security best practices.
- Automate environment provisioning, configuration management, and patching using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell DSC, or Nerido templates).
- Use Microsoft Intune and Azure services to connect, configure, and manage physical devices, ensuring secure and consistent endpoint configurations.
- Manage Azure networking, including VPN gateways, Network Security Groups (NSGs), firewalls, and private endpoints.
- Monitor performance, security, and cost efficiency of Azure resources using native tools such as Azure Monitor and Defender for Cloud.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure integration, reliability, and compliance across environments.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 5–7 years of progressive experience in:
- Azure administration and engineering
- Microsoft Windows systems administration
- Cloud networking and virtual infrastructure
- Infrastructure automation and scripting
- Certifications (one or more preferred):
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator (AZ-800/801)
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent
- Technical Skills:
- PowerShell or Python scripting
- Familiarity with Intune device management
- Understanding of Azure AD, identity synchronization, and hybrid join configurations
- US Citizen
Desired Skills
- Project Management Experience
- Experience implementing and maintaining compliance with CMMC, NIST 800-53, and related frameworks.
- Familiarity with Azure Policy, Azure Automation, and Log Analytics for governance and monitoring.
- Strong understanding of cloud cost management, security baselines, and resource optimization.
- Ability to work collaboratively across IT, security, and system owner teams in multi-tenant or hybrid environments.
