As we expand our operations, we are seeking a Database Developer to join our expanding team in Tulsa, OK (or Denver, CO), and contribute to our exciting future.

Position Summary

This full-time (40 hours/week)
contract position
will report directly to the Director of Data Strategy and Optimization, working collaboratively with internal teams and external technical consultants to develop and maintain data marts, improve data workflows, enhance reporting capabilities, and ensure seamless data integration across platforms. The role will also involve applying ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) techniques to support automation projects. Ideally, the contractor will work from Nexus's Tulsa office at least one day a week; however, we are open to a fully remote arrangement for the right candidate. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and innovative professional to help shape the company's data infrastructure and contribute to the ongoing modernization of Nexus Energy Partners' data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server database schemas to support growing business needs.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers for performance and efficiency.
• Responsibly explore AI integration, including generative and agentic AI, to optimize workflows and improve processes while maintaining data integrity and security.
• Maintain thorough documentation of database schemas, data dictionaries, and process workflows to ensure transparency and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Develop and maintain Nexus' integration software, including SSIS, as well as other relevant platforms.
• Lead domain-specific data mart architecture, testing, deployment, and maintenance, providing recommendations and implementing necessary changes for successful launches.
• Recommend best practices and optimization of database security, access control, compliance, and hardware infrastructure.
• Utilize ETL skills (Python, PowerShell, etc.) to help access vendor and contractor APIs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally alongside manager to support business users with discovery, gathering requirements, data analysis, query optimization, and using business applications to access databases.
• (If possible) Assist with dashboard development and optimizing data connectors using Spotfire and PowerBI.

Qualifications/Skills
:

• Demonstrated expertise in SQL, including complex queries and optimization
• Proficiency with SSIS for building and managing robust data integration workflows
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines and developing data marts to support analytics and reporting.
• Proven ability to maintain clear documentation of data schemas, process workflows, and data dictionaries to ensure consistency and transparency
• Strong ability to translate technical concepts and data findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Must reside within commuting distance to Tulsa, OK or Denver, CO, and be willing to work in the office at least 1 day/week.
