CyberStorm Defense is seeking a Technical Writer / Documentation Specialist to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) in the development, editing, and maintenance of technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and project deliverables under FAA's Program Management Organization (PMO) and Enterprise Services (AJM-3) directorates.

This role ensures that all contract deliverables, training materials, and configuration-controlled documents meet the AMS, SEI, and NextGen documentation standards. The specialist will work closely with engineers, program managers, and FAA stakeholders to translate complex technical information into accessible, compliant materials for multiple audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and format technical documentation, SOPs, system manuals, and training guides per FAA AMS and SEI standards.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with FAA documentation templates, configuration management (CM) procedures, and branding requirements.
  • Support documentation for program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), testing phases, and implementation milestones.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to capture and document system architectures, workflows, and process maps.
  • Manage version control, configuration baselines, and publication of controlled documents.
  • Develop and maintain documentation indexes, glossaries, and style guides for FAA programs.
  • Prepare presentation materials, white papers, and executive briefings for FAA leadership.
  • Support QA of all deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, clarity, and alignment with FAA policy.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 7 + years of technical writing, documentation, or communications experience supporting complex technical programs.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA AMS, SEI, and CMMI documentation standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Experience managing controlled documentation in a configuration-managed environment.
  • Excellent communication and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Engineering, or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior support to FAA PMO (AJM) or TechOps (AJW) programs.
  • Familiarity with FAA Order Information Management Policy).
  • Experience with DITA, MadCap Flare, or XML-based documentation systems.
  • Certifications: Society for Technical Communication (STC), PMP, or CompTIA Project+.
  • Active Public Trust or higher clearance preferred.
