Information Technology Analyst Trainee
to join our Information Technology division. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen your problem-solving abilities, expand your IT expertise, and grow your career in enterprise technology.
Through this structured training program, you'll gain the knowledge and experience needed to qualify for the target class of
Information Technology Analyst 1
. The development program is for a minimum of 1 year to a maximum of 3 years, depending on your background and how quickly you will meet the experience and training requirements of the target class. Upon successful completion, you must meet the qualifications for the Information Technology Analyst 1.

DISCOVER THE OPPORTUNITY TO
- Provide first-level technical support by responding to help desk tickets, calls, and emails, and assisting users with hardware, software, and connectivity issues;
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and system problems using standard tools and procedures, escalating complex issues as needed;
- Assist with setup, configuration, installation, and maintenance of devices and peripherals;
- Support the installation of software updates, patches, and new releases;
- Work collaboratively with technical staff to coordinate service requests and assist in resolving issues;
- Help maintain and organize an accurate inventory of IT resources such as equipment, documentation, and support records;
- Participate in basic support for Microsoft 365 and user account management, network connectivity and device configuration, application troubleshooting and simple programming tasks, cybersecurity awareness and compliance activities, and data center or production control operations;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
About Us
The Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) is an agency whose mission is to provide accounting and financial services, administer employee and retiree benefits, develop accounting policy and exercise accounting oversight, and prepare financial reports for the state, federal and municipal governments, and the public.
The Information Technology division is an inter-agency team that supports and helps maintain Core-CT, used by over 10,000 state employees for financial, human resources, and payroll functions. The division maintains and upgrades Core-CT, provides analysis, maintains the comptroller's technical infrastructure, and is responsible for web development for the comptroller's communication sites.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency information systems environment this class is accountable for receiving on the job training in performing technical work involving help desk functions, user support and assisting in application development.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Receives on the job training to perform tasks as outlined in the specification for the class of Information Technology Analyst 1;
- Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications - General Experience
Candidates must be able to meet the experience and training requirements of the designated job class at the completion of the development program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing technical support in an IT Help Desk environment, including resolving hardware, software, or connectivity issues for end users.
- Experience supporting users in Microsoft Office 365, including account setup, permissions, application functionality, or basic administration.
- Experience providing technical information to users with varying levels of technical knowledge, including clear verbal and written communication.
- Experience prioritizing tasks and completing work independently while contributing to team goals or shared workloads.
- Experience maintaining accurate records, documentation, or ticket information in an IT support or service environment.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving basic hardware, software, or network connectivity problems using standard troubleshooting procedures.
