Work Overview

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care according to the patient's individual physician orders. Patient care may involve evaluations, administering prescribed treatments and therapies, care planning, communication with other members of the patients' multi-disciplinary team, emergency management, coordination of care, health promotion and teaching and training family members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Occupational Therapy services as prescribed by the patient's physician

  • Provide a written evaluation defining Occupational Therapy needs, goals and expected outcomes in conjunction with referring physician's Plan of Treatment

  • Follow policies and procedures and adheres to all applicable patient care standards, licensure regulations and state laws

  • Develop a written Plan of Care for Occupational Therapy with reasonable goals and outcomes

  • Maintain and adjust the plan of care as needed for assigned patients according to identified Occupational Therapy goals and outcomes

  • Maintain patient and company confidentiality

  • Maintain effective communication between staff, health care team members, and family

  • Refer patients when appropriate to additional educational or medical services

  • Participate in coordination of services (including discharge planning), with health care team, physicians, parent/guardians, nurses, and others

  • Ability to adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times

  • Attention to detail

Requirements

  • Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four toten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with pediatric, autistic and developmentally disabled clients

  • Current and unrestricted Texas State OT license

  • Must have a valid state driver's license, a minimum of liability auto insurance, and a clean driving record, required

  • Experience with pediatric, autistic and developmentally disabled clients

  • Must be able to reposition patients and move equipment without assistance

Bilingual in Spanish required

  • The compensation range rate structure for this role is per unit and is based on years of experience.
