About Our Opportunity 

We are seeking a Logistics Specialist to work in the Philadelphia Corporate office. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of the logistics function, ensuring cost effectiveness and timely management of International and domestic carriers, using approved vendors.  

Responsibilities 

  • Efficiently plans and coordinates import shipments from vendors to distribution centers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Coordinates bookings with overseas offices, resolving issues with ocean carriers and forwarders. 
  • Tracks and traces import shipments, updating all relevant departments such as Sales, Supply Chain, and Distribution Centers on shipment status.
  • Resolves issues and discrepancies related to customs brokerage at borders. 
  • Acts as liaison for special and large projects between vendors, warehouses, and carriers.
  • Assists management in negotiating contracts with international and domestic transportation providers.
  • Facilitate transportation solutions and rates for internal departments and distribution centers.  Prepares request for proposals, compares and selects carriers based on departmental policies.
  • Analyzes freight bill audit reports, addresses billing discrepancies, and reports to Management. 
  • Collaborates with customs brokers, carriers and/or forwarders to expedite and clear shipments promptly.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Experience in Import practices, high level knowledge of Customs regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and interact with employees at various organizational levels.
  • Detail oriented and self-driven to improve.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
  • Associate's degree in business or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of related experience and/or training in Logistics/Supply Chain required; 2 or more years preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
