SUMMARY:

The Category Manager - Consumer (eCommerce) plays a pivotal role in driving sales and profitability for Almo's consumer business. This strategic leader will own the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned product categories, blending market insight with cross-functional collaboration to deliver growth. The Category Manager will analyze consumer behavior, market trends, and competitive intelligence to uncover new opportunities, close market gaps, and guide portfolio strategy. Success in this role requires a strong analytical mindset, an entrepreneurial approach to category ownership, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences in a digital-first landscape.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct in-depth market research to understand evolving customer needs, emerging trends, and the competitive landscape; translate insights into clear, actionable plans.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies focused on long-term growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
  • Lead product lifecycle management, including assortment planning, pricing strategy, and promotional execution, in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Planning, and Purchasing teams.
  • Monitor category performance using key metrics and dashboards; proactively identify risks and opportunities and take corrective action when needed.
  • Own vendor and supplier relationships—negotiate favorable terms, streamline supply chain efficiencies, and enhance product offerings.
  • Partner with marketing to develop compelling content, brand positioning, and go-to-market strategies that resonate with digital shoppers and drive conversion.
  • Implement and optimize pricing models that balance margin goals with competitive positioning and customer value.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, digital innovations, and customer expectations to ensure Almo remains a leader in the ecommerce space.
  • Champion the customer voice—review feedback and engagement data to improve product selection and overall buying experience.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of category management or merchandising experience, ideally in ecommerce or consumer products.
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior and retail trends.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor partnerships.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, Category Management Tools and Software for data analysis and reporting.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing market dynamics, consumer preferences, and organizational priorities.
  • Data-driven mindset with proficiency in using analytics tools to guide decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
