What We Expect
Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of financial functions of the ministry of Simpson Funeral Home. Beyond all else, a dedication to serving families through some of life's most difficult moments is absolutely paramount. The ideal candidate will have a background in ministry-based office management, specific to accounting and/or payroll processing experience. This position involves processing accounts receivable and payable, assist in payroll processing for department managers, and providing timely reporting to management on an ongoing basis. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and anticipating needs.
Duties
- Processing of accounts receivable activities and processing reports incidental thereto.
- Process accounts payable in accordance with standard company practices, ensuring timely processing activities.
- Assist in the processing of payroll activities and assist department managers with tasks within our HRIS.
- Author and procure reports as-needed by management, along with typical and established periodic reporting.
- Ensure that all accounting procedures are followed consistently and efficiently in accordance with GAAP.
- Address customer and vendor inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain a positive experience.
- Maintain an organized office environment that promotes productivity.
- Contribute positively to our culture of ministry to others in times of need.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in team management.
- Proficient in all aspects of accounting, including AR/P, payroll, reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Excellent administrative abilities with a focus on clerical tasks.
- Familiarity with Google suite of products and CRM platforms is helpful.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience in internal and external audit functions
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff and clients.
- A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing outstanding service.
