Will be required to complete a "Willingness to Work" Acknowledgment with application. Selected candidate must successfully complete the pre-exposure rabies treatment/vaccination.

Performs specialized technical supervisory work in the Animal Care and Control Division. Responsible for performing highly technical veterinary duties, including supervising and training veterinary assistants. This position will act as a primary liaison with external working partners and clients. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior and reviewed through conferences, reports, and results obtained. Work plan and training products are reviewed by the Chief of Veterinary Services for content and to ensure alignment of instruction for Clinic team members aligns with the Shelter's principles, veterinary practices, and supports the current programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of three (3) years of experience training, mentoring, reviewing, overseeing and leading the work of others and working with animals in a veterinary office, kennel, animal shelter, or similar facility.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain and maintain Florida Protection and Advocacy Association (FAPAA) Euthanasia Technician Certification within six (6) months of hire AND complete the RECOVER Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) training within one (1) year of hire.

PREFERENCE FOR: Five (5) years of experience working with animals in a veterinary office, shelter medical section, or similar animal medical care facility; previous experience working in a High Quality, High Volume Spay and Neuter (HQHVSN) program; veterinary medical knowledge and experience training medical personnel in clinical procedures and practices; two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role; one (1) year of experience with humane euthanasia of companion animals; Certified Veterinary Technician through the Board of Veterinary Medicine (must specify on application); Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Technology; experience with technical protocol writing; certification in teaching or training; experience in developing and delivering training systems, including creating instructional materials for various learning styles; bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
