Midlevel Associate/Counsel
We are looking for a reasonably experienced general litigator (5-15 years) to join our team. This is a high-end, fast-paced litigation practice. We do exciting work: sovereign litigation, constitutional claims, defamation, election law, RICO, and more. We also have a healthy commercial litigation practice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to clients, conducting research, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in court. The ideal candidate should have excellent research and communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong understanding of the law. Would prefer T14 Law School, BIGLAW, and/or federal clerkship experience.
The founder of the firm is in Tampa, but the practice is Statewide, and to an increasing degree, nationwide. Florida experience and/or Bar Membership is strongly preferred.
Attorneys will interview clients, investigate cases for possible representation, perform preliminary legal research, and draft initial complaints; attend meetings, depositions, and hearings; review documents and assist with discovery; and draft briefs, motions, and other filings. The position is entirely remote, but the attorney must still be responsive and reliable. (It is conceivable that a trial or other event might involve travel or in-person interaction, but this is not frequent or expected.) Attention to detail, responsiveness, diligence in completing tasks timely, and good litigation judgment are required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze legal issues.
- Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Handle discovery, including document collection, obtaining information from client, asserting and dealing with objections, meet and confers, and Motions to Compel and for Protective Order.
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other agencies, handle investigations, service of process, etc.
- Advise clients on legal matters.
- Deal with vendors, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
- Conduct interviews with witnesses and clients.
- Provide advice on legal matters.
- Determine case strategy.
Note: Beltran does not accept resumes from headhunters or recruiters, who are on notice that Beltran will not pay any person any "finder's fee" or "signing bonus" under any circumstance. Legal professionals do not sign indentures, and nobody, whether or not a member of the bar, may claim an interest in another legal professional. Beltran believes anybody who might advocate for his clients should first advocate for themselves without an intermediary.
