Supportive Housing Communities (SHC) Life Skills Associate
Provide clients with the skills and support needed to understand housing
expectations and maintain a clean, safe, and stable living environment. Teach and
coordinate classes and activities geared towards cleaning, home maintenance and
financial management. Oversee and participate in the upkeep of the home, by using
positive communication strategies to encourage clients to reach their independent
living goals. Provide positive training and techniques to ensure successful outcomes.
Reports to: Life Skills Coordinator

Life Skills Associate
The primary responsibilities of the Life Skills Associate include, but are not limited to, the following:
Establish a trusting relationship with the client to promote their well-being and housing stability.
Teach skills to promote independence.
Conduct Good Neighbor Trainings for all participants entering housing.
Support inclusion and integration.
Assist with budgeting plans to support living and household expenses.
Assist with home monitoring plans.
Assist with health social skills for independent living.
Instruct clients on basic upkeep of housing duties.
Coordinate with the agency's case managers and peer support specialist on housing progress.
Provide guidance and support in daily activities.
Empower and promote independence by exploring opportunities for individuals to make healthy choices in their lives.
Ensure that goals and plans are implemented.
Provide support for individuals in a variety of ways such as assessment, training, technical
assistance, monitoring safety conditions, and devising weekly schedules.
Encourage the use of natural supports within the community.
Assist with participation in leisure/recreational activities.
Complete initial and ongoing training and participate in staff development activities.
Promote the health and safety of participants through education and support.
Maintain documentation according to HMIS and agency policy. Case notes must be entered within 24-48 hours of encounter.
Position Requirements
Must have a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year experience working with individuals living with a mental illness or substance use disorder.
Must be able to communicate well with individuals and/or families and community service providers.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Must be able to demonstrate good judgment, especially under pressure.
Must be able to utilize community resources necessary for conflict management and/or services.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
