Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the movement of goods, ensuring accurate order picking, loading, and unloading shipments while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, warehouse management systems, and materials handling will be essential to support our distribution operations. This position requires a valid drivers license and the ability to pass a physical. Light building maintenance will also be a part of the job.

Duties

  • Safely operate forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, cranes, and other heavy equipment to load and unload goods from trucks and containers.
  • Prepare outbound shipments by accurately picking orders and ensuring proper packaging for safe transit.
  • Conduct heavy lifting tasks as needed to move materials within the warehouse, adhering strictly to OSHA safety standards.
  • Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Load and unload freight efficiently while ensuring proper stacking and storage of materials on pallets or racks.
  • Maintain detailed records of all shipping and receiving activities, including logs for inbound/outbound shipments, incident reports, and safety checks.
  • Assist with inventory management by conducting regular cycle counts and supporting warehouse supervisor directives for stock organization.
  • The applicant will be able to drive and non CDL truck to deliver goods to the customer.
  • Light building maintenance will be required in an historic building.

  • Applicant will be responsible to optimize warehouse layout for efficient flow of materials and improve overall productivity.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving operations, or related roles with a focus on heavy equipment operation.
  • Valid forklift certification with hands-on experience operating forklifts, clamp trucks, crane equipment, and pallet jacks.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and order picker technology.
  • Experience with heavy lifting tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to warehouse safety practices.
  • Prior experience working with construction or industrial materials handling is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate order picking and inventory control.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and supervisors.
