Your Role
We are looking for a Complex Litigation Specialist with commercial experience, including, but not limited to Transportation Network Company (TNC) and GIG economy, to manage and resolve complex litigation and non-litigated coverage and extra-contractual claim matters including, but not limited to auto, motorcycles, scooters, recreational vehicles, trucks, and remote-controlled delivery vehicles.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial law, including but not limited to Transportation Network Company (TNC) and GIG economy, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to handle high-stakes cases with precision and efficiency.
This role involves working closely with business partners within the company, legal teams, and other stakeholders to sure the best possible outcomes.
Your work
- Review, analyze, research and is responsible for resolution of complex litigated and non-litigated coverage and extra-contractual claim matters involving most commercial product types including but not limited to auto, fleet, last mile delivery, and trucking, in most geographic venues.
- Provide direction and advise to Claims personnel related to complex/large coverage matters.
- Complex Litigation Specialists do not adjust, assess, or issue payment on claims.
- Presenting cases in committee setting when seeking above settlement authority level.
- Acts as department liaison and Subject Matter Expert on coverage /product matters for special project efforts related to claims, product and various other workgroups.
- Monitors and reports to Claims management and larger Claims organization on trends and case law changes as related to coverage matters and state laws (all states and all products).
- Develops and delivers product/coverage training to other departments and regions.
Required Experience, Education And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years Claims experience, with 5+ years' experience handling complex casualty claims.
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of all products and claim handling procedures in all states, including thorough knowledge of casualty claims handling.
- Knowledge of state and federal insurance regulations.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Strong detail-orientation and skill for accuracy.
- Excellent communications and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to make high-risk, high-impact decisions and be accountable for results of decisions.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret complex policy language, statutory requirements, various state laws and legal analyses.
What would make us excited about you?
- 5+ years' experience handling complex commercial auto coverage and extra-contractual claims.
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of commercial (including Transportation Network Company (TNC) and GIG economy) and personal lines products and claim handling procedures in all states, including thorough knowledge of multi-line claims handling.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people (attorneys, mediators, claims personnel, insureds).
- Minimum 3 years Litigation experience.
- Litigation and coverage experience.
- CPCU, AINS designations.
- Shows respect for differences through excellent communication skills with people from an array of backgrounds.
- Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.).
- Lives into cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.).
- Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings.
- Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.
