$87,984 - $93,159 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours:
This is a full-time salaried position that includes all benefits provided by the City of Fort Worth. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with operating hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After successfully completing a six-month probationary period, there will be an option for remote work. Please note that some evening and weekend work may be required.

A Sr. Accountant – General Ledger job is available with the City of Fort Worth Financial Management Services Department's Accounting Division. This is an advanced level position requiring a high level of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Possession of Certified Public Accountant credentials
• Possess credentials as a Certified Public Finance Officer
• Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible finance/accounting experience, preferably working in a State or Local Government environment
• Strong knowledge of Governmental Accounting (Fund Accounting) concepts
• Have a good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Have experience working with ERP systems and strong Excel skills

The Sr. Accountant – General Ledger Job Responsibilities Include

• Perform complex financial analysis and account reconciliations
• Monitor general ledger accounts,
• Review/approve/post journal entries, perform month-end and year-end closing activities,
• Provide assistance during the City's independent financial and single audits,
• Support internal/external customers and City departments to resolve Accounting issues
• Any other duties that may be assigned.
