The Fort Worth Water Department owns five water treatment facilities with a total capacity of 420+ MGD, a wastewater treatment facility with a capacity of 160+ MGD, and dozens of pump stations, lift stations, and meter stations.

We're looking for a Sr. Engineering Technician to join our Strategic Operations Division – specifically the W/WW Facility Planning and Asset Management Team. This team plays a critical role in advancing how the Water Department manages, plans, and invests in its vertical facilities — from treatment plants and pump stations to lift and meter stations.

As a Senior Engineering Technician, you'll be at the center of how we visualize, analyze, and manage Fort Worth's water and wastewater infrastructure. You'll create and maintain GIS maps, dashboards, and documentation that drive smarter decisions across our operations. This role supports the department's Asset Management Lead and works closely with engineers, planners, and IT professionals to ensure accurate data integration and asset tracking — helping keep Fort Worth's water systems efficient, reliable, and resilient.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible technical experience working with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using BIM (3D), Revit, or AutoCAD to support facility design and planning.
  • Familiarity or interest in Maximo, Digital Twin technologies, or other asset management tools.
  • Proficiency with Advanced Excel, Oracle, SQL, or other data systems.
  • Experience or interest in Power BI, Looker, or other data visualization tools.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team.

The Sr. Engineering Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Develop, edit, and maintain GIS data and maps using ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Support asset onboarding for new facilities and manage as-built documentation.
  • Create dashboards and reports in Maximo, Power BI, SharePoint, or Looker to support data-driven planning.
  • Assist with Digital Twin technologies and other emerging tools that enhance facility visualization and analytics.
  • Help streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and contribute to lifecycle planning for critical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Water IT, Plant Operations, and Engineering staff to drive continuous improvement.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • Be part of a mission-driven team that delivers essential services to nearly one million people.
  • Gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies like Digital Twin systems and smart asset management tools.
