Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
- Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
- Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
- Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management with clear and timely communication
- Ensure all work is executed to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations
- Manufacture new tooling and critical spares to support production activity and customer deadlines
- Carry out engineering level changes to tools and modifications
- Test and confirm mechanical, electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic operation of tools before return to production
- Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field preferred
- Demonstrated experience using CAD and CAM files
- 3-5 years' experience working as a Tool and Die Maker, journeyperson preferred
- Extensive experience with metalworking tools including drills, milling machines, grinders, and lathes.
- Demonstrated ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Experience with quality control analysis

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
The range is $32 - $44 per hour. Exact salary offered will depend on candidate's experience, work location, skills, etc.
