The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is hiring an engineer to fill a Fixed Utility Valuation Engineer Trainee (FUVE-T) or Civil Engineer Trainee (CET) position within the PUC's Bureau of Technical Utility Services (TUS). The TUS FUVE-T / CET will work with senior FUVEs and other staff on developing a working knowledge of the state and federal regulatory policies and environment as it pertains to the water, wastewater, and stormwater industry and jurisdictional utilities. The FUVE-T / CET will learn how to review and evaluate the filings submitted by fixed utilities from an engineering perspective. The FUVE-T / CET will also learn how to prepare written orders, reports, memos, and other documents for internal and external stakeholders on topics and issues related to water, wastewater and stormwater service.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
• Telework: These positionsare located in Harrisburg.Part-time telework is a potential feature of this position. Successful candidates are required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved by the Bureau Director. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
• 1. To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements. The telework worksite must be located: 1) within a reasonable travel distance of Harrisburg, and 2) within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66, before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of civil engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or in a closely related field, which includes or was supplemented by major course work in civil engineering; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
