Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.
We are looking for a passionate and intellectually curious Technical Program Manager to join the New Technology Engineering (NTE) organization. NTE is responsible for leading the engineering, validation, and production readiness for new cloud service capacity. This role has a direct and measurable impact in delivering Azure capacity leveraging server platform capabilities and architectures. Our key focus is in reducing the Time-to-Market (TTM) for new services and ensuring the quality and scalability of infrastructure capacity to enable Microsoft customers. A successful candidate for this role will leverage their analytical, leadership, and communication skills to deliver innovative solutions that will transform the way our customers interact with our products.
Responsibilities
Manage the introduction of new cloud services, hardware platforms and the tools / processes to deploy next generation cloud infrastructure capabilities.
Work directly with partner engineering teams across Microsoft to ensure new services meet the scale and cycle time specifications for high volume deployments.
Analyze data to identify, prototype, and drive the implementation of technical and process improvements to increase the predictability, agility, and quality of our capacity deployment systems.
Continuously drive improvements in the Time-to-Market (TTM) for the introduction of new cloud services
Ability to effectively communicate with and influence partner teams.
Provide technical and program leadership with respect and integrity.
Drive technical projects from requirements through launch, including managing complex project schedules, mitigating risks, and keeping processes running smoothly.
Develop status reports and communicate project status to stakeholders and senior management.
Resolve complex integration issues that may arise when cloud capacity is built at scale.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
1+ years' experience with large-scale distributed systems, datacenter infrastructure, and cloud services engineering.
1+ years' experience demonstrating ability to build relationships and influence in a matrixed organization.
Understanding of Datacenter hardware architecture, interactions between systems components, networking and storage.
Prior systems development or validation experience is a plus.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
