Overview
TRC is seeking an Assistant Materials Representative Engineer proficient and knowledgeable in structural and construction materials engineering and testing as you'll be interfacing with transportation authorities in Northern and Southern California.

Responsibilities

• Ability to review plans, specifications and project special provisions to verify material compliance in department of transportation materials programs.
• Be able to understand roles and responsibilities for Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) for construction material.
• Act as point of contact for agency material source inspection programs. Attend agency meetings related to pre-construction, pre-fabrication and other related materials construction meetings as needed to monitor and ensure quality program requirements and project requirements are achieved.
• Ability to assist with audits, interviews and inspections of material suppliers and fabrication facilities for structural steel, coatings, precast concrete, and other materials as required
• Understand and coordinate sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with project standards and specifications
• Be able to understand QC vs QA non-conformance (NCR) processes including the ability to track NCRs and work with Materials Engineer in providing sound engineering recommendations and resolutions.
• Ability to develop and maintain client relations

Qualifications

• no minimum years required, qualification and experience based
• Engineer In Training (EIT) Certificate
• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• Entry level position
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Portable Document Formats (PDF)

• Understanding of CAD programs related to reviewing of engineering plans
• Ability to travel domestically from California Offices to material suppliers and fabrication facilities
• Willingness to study and get up to speed with Caltrans Standard Plans and Specifications, Construction Materials Standards, Specifications and Codes (ASTMs, ACI, AWS, AISC, SSPC, ASME, ICC)

Compensation
: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:
Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
