We are currently seeking a full-time individual to serve as the Program & Certification Specialist, MBAC, to serve clients of the Minority Business Assistance Center within our 12 county region by executing and providing support for high-quality MBAC programming opportunities and client assistance in applying for MBE, WBE, EDGE, and Veteran-Friendly certifications.
The best individual for this position will be people and detail oriented, organized, positive, full of energy, eager to learn, and passionate about the success of businesses in the Dayton region.
The position is contingent upon the continuation of a grant relationship with the Ohio Department of Development Minority Business Division. The current grant period ends June 30, 2027.
POSITION TITLE: Specialist - Program & Certification, MBAC

OVERVIEW: Execute and provide support for high-quality MBAC programming opportunities and client assistance in applying for MBE, WBE, EDGE, and Veteran-Friendly certifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Assist clients in applying for MBE, WBE, EDGE and Veteran Friendly certifications.
Directly responsible for the logistics and execution of the follow events/activities, at a minimum:
- Monthly workshops on MBE, WBE, EDGE and VFBE certifications;
- Monthly client info sessions;
- Work directly with the Ohio Department of Development Minority Business Development division to ensure regional certifications are processed;
- Meet and assist clients, in-person or virtually, regarding questions about their certifications.
Work closely with the MBAC Director to execute events / activities, as needed, focusing on the following activities:
- Pre-event support (GrowthZone (CRM), SalesForce, calendar, event reminders, catering and location booking);
- Creation of rosters, name badges and distribution of meeting materials;
- Event logistics and day-of support & registration assistance including Zoom set up, if required;
- Post event close out including attendee invoicing, P.O. assistance.
Maintain database information for assigned clients, events and activities. Track key performance measures and prepare reports; Collect client success stories and testimonials tied to MBAC assistance.
Update MBAC specific social media in conjunction with the internal chamber marketing team.
Adhere to annual budgets and specific action plans for each program area. Work within the budgetary guidelines of each program. Assist in planning and logistics for programming events. Assess event objectives and determine most cost-effective means to deliver results.
Work with others within the organization to market activities and events to increase participation and company awareness.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree or credential preferred or two years related work experience in program/event management.
- Highly organized and detailed orientated. Able to juggle multiple tasks at once.
- Pro-active in taking initiative to execute tasks and problem solver- able to identify issues early and work to address.
- Computer skills including proficiency with MS office suite, Salesforce (or similar CRM) & virtual meeting platforms (specifically Zoom.)
- Comfortable engaging partners, volunteers and clients.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects.
- Flexible team player with positive attitude, adaptable and enjoys a challenge.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
- Local travel to off-site events is necessary on occasion. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
This position is subject to the organization's at-will employment policy. In addition, the position is contingent upon the continuation of a grant relationship with the Ohio Department of Development Minority Business Division. The current grant period ends June 30, 2027.
