Duties
- Design and deliver tailored lesson plans aligned with individual student goals, incorporating curriculum development and instructional design principles.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and ongoing observations to inform instruction and update IEPs accordingly.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral therapists, music therapists, and other specialists—to support holistic student development.
- Implement behavioral management techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies to promote positive behaviors and social skills.
- Adapt teaching methods for students with autism, deaf education needs, visually impaired education requirements, or other disabilities to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instructional delivery and facilitate interactive learning experiences.
- Provide tutoring and literacy education to improve reading, writing, math skills, and overall academic achievement across various subjects.
- Manage classroom environments effectively by maintaining classroom management protocols that foster safety, respect, and active participation.
- Support early childhood education initiatives such as preschool or toddler care programs by applying Montessori or other child-centered pedagogies.
- Develop and monitor progress on IEPs while ensuring compliance with educational regulations and standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, behavior health management, recreational therapy techniques, and inclusive teaching practices.
- Mentor new teachers or aides while fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavior reports, lesson plans, proofreading educational materials for accuracy, and preparing reports for parent-teacher conferences.
- Promote child welfare by creating a nurturing environment that supports emotional well-being alongside academic growth.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with children with disabilities across various settings including private schools or early intervention programs.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations related to IEP development and implementation.
- Proficiency in speech therapy techniques, behavioral therapy (including ABA), music therapy methods, and behavioral health strategies.
- Expertise in curriculum development tailored for learners with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), visual impairments, hearing impairments or other disabilities.
- Familiarity with learning technology platforms that support inclusive education environments.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, therapists, and administrators.
- Classroom management skills that create a positive learning atmosphere conducive to academic success for diverse learners.
- Ability to design engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math instruction, physical education activities or recreational therapies as needed.
- Experience in early childhood education frameworks such as Montessori or preschool curricula is advantageous.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles for adapting content for students with different learning styles or disabilities.
- Proven ability to provide tutoring or academic advising tailored to individual student needs.
- Skills in proofreading educational materials to ensure clarity and accuracy before dissemination.
- Experience working with standardized testing procedures to evaluate student progress effectively.
