JOB SUMMARY: Provide regional leadership, technical assistance, staff development and instructional coaching to districts in implementing quality specially designed instruction in the area of mathematics.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge
- Master's degree required from an accredited university; concentration in mathematics education preferred.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for mathematics and special education required.
- Three years of relevant teaching experience, including serving students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience with specially designed instruction for students with disabilities.
- Experience in math curriculum development and implementation.
- Demonstrate fluent knowledge of foundational math development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accommodating and modifying curriculum and instruction for students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of and experience in adult learning and planning appropriate staff development for adults.
- Experience in working with programs delivering instruction to at-risk students.
- Experience in planning and delivering staff development through a variety of models (e.g. face-to-face, online self-paced, online facilitated, webinar and video conferencing).
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and expertise in facilitating groups.
- Demonstrate effective job-related skills that model effective integration of technology.
- Demonstrate competence with assisting others to appropriately integrate technology into the curriculum.
- Proficiency with standard functions within applications such as Microsoft 365/Google, (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software), e-mail, web browsers, and databases.
Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include file and desktop management and operations, and working in a cloud-based and/or networked environment.
Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.
PRODUCTS/OUTCOMES
- Execute statewide initiative implementation activities as assigned.
- Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of math curriculum and instructional programs for designated districts/campuses.
- Provide instructional leadership, technical assistance, and staff development for teachers, administrators and service providers to ensure students with disabilities gain access to standards-based curriculum and instruction in the least restrictive environment.
- Develop, disseminate and revise resources related to students with disabilities gaining access to the general education curriculum, including curriculum design, adaptive teaching/lesson plans, inclusive strategies, and state assessment decisions.
- Identify and provide information to districts on appropriate instructional strategies and materials as needed.
- Plan, organize and conduct staff development for district personnel.
- Work with district personnel to implement strategies that increase student achievement and close the gaps for students with disabilities.
- Engage in the divisional initiatives.
- Develop programs related to specializing math curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
- Develop marketing strategies for products, services, and programs that reflect data driven decisions.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Identify areas of client need.
- Suggest training and support strategies that would strengthen the program and facilitate the site-based decision-making process.
- Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing support services for classroom teachers to best serve students with disabilities.
- Work cooperatively with ESC-20 core content specialists to plan support services for general education and special education teachers to best serve students with disabilities.
- Evaluate the special education program effectiveness with campus/district leadership and recommend changes as needed.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
- Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classrooms.

SUPERVISION AND ORGANIZATION OF STAFF
- None.
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY
- Be aware of and follow Center guidelines of allowable costs when recommending use of public funds for expenditures for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer, peripherals, copy machine, phone, etc.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional standing, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
- Lifting: Light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional heavy lifting/carrying (15–50 pounds).
- Environment: This role primarily operates in an in-person, dynamic office setting, characterized by frequent verbal communication, movement, and collaboration among team members (small to large in-person gatherings/meetings); exposure to low or intense illumination; exposure to office equipment noise; may work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent travel; and, occasional remote work (after pre-determined length of employment).
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Champion and model the Center's Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Service Standards.
- Function within the policies and procedures of ESC-20.
- Accept other responsibilities as assigned.
- Dress and groom appropriately for the ESC-20 work setting.
- Travel independently to fulfill responsibilities of the position.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance, majority in-person/onsite.
- Serve at the will of the Executive Director.
FUNDING
- This position is funded in whole or in part by a federal grant administered under the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) and is subject to the cost principles outlined in 2 CFR Part 200 Subpart E (Uniform Guidance). All costs associated with this position must be allowable, allocable, and reasonable under federal guidelines. The employee is expected to maintain time and effort documentation consistent with federal requirements.
