Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel engines and equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with automotive diagnostics, heavy equipment operation, and industrial machinery. A strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, along with excellent customer service skills, is essential to ensure optimal performance and safety of our fleet and equipment.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, wheel alignments, and fluid checks.
- Fabricate and modify parts using hand tools, power tools, welding, and soldering techniques to meet specific repair needs.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and trailer trucks for testing and repair purposes.
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex issues accurately.
- Repair and maintain farm machinery, industrial equipment, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of mechanical components during repairs or upgrades.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards such as proper use of air brakes and adherence to vehicle maintenance protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair findings clearly and offering maintenance advice.
Qualifications
- Proven dealership experience or extensive mechanic experience in heavy equipment repair is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, automotive diagnostics, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, soldering, alignment procedures, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and other industrial equipment safely.
- Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with strong problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions.
- Valid certifications related to vehicle maintenance or heavy equipment operation are a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
