Our search firm is proud to partner exclusively with Plenty, an industry leader in indoor vertical farming, to hire a Farm Operations Associate for their indoor vertical strawberry farm in Chester, VA.

About the Role

As a Farm Operations Associate, you'll support daily production and harvesting activities that keep our strawberries thriving. You'll work hands-on in planting, transplanting, harvesting, and packaging fruit — maintaining quality and safety standards across every step. The role involves active, team-based work in a clean and modern indoor environment, including both ambient and refrigerated areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transplant, harvest, and package strawberries with precision and care
  • Operate and maintain equipment safely following SOPs and SSOPs
  • Maintain clean, food-safe work areas by performing sanitation duties before and after production
  • Accurately record data and follow production and food safety procedures
  • Communicate any safety or operational issues promptly to supervisors
  • Rotate across stations and support teammates to meet daily production goals

What You'll Bring

  • All applicants must be 18 years or older to apply
  • 1 or more years of experience in production, food manufacturing, agriculture, or warehouse operations preferred
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance — you take pride in being reliable and consistent
  • Ability to work safely in fast-paced, repetitive tasks while maintaining quality
  • Team-oriented, positive attitude, and willingness to learn new processes
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods
  • Ability to work at heights up to 40 feet
  • Comfortable working in cold environments (as low as 32 °F) when required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations
  • Comply with GMP/GAPS in the Facility
  • Conduct monitoring activities to assure finished product complies with food safety and quality specifications

Schedule & Compensation

  • Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Flexibility for occasional weekend coverage as needed during harvest peaks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
