What you get to do:

Manage the entire project execution process for assigned major capital projects, within the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment (SEA) theme parks located in San Diego. Support the corporate SEA Attractions group and associated park teams throughout all phases of project development. Lead and advance projects from approved conceptual designs through final scope definition, completion of bid and construction documents, bidding, construction, start-up and commissioning. Assume ownership of overall project execution including budget, schedule, scope, and design intent from preliminary concept approval through project completion.

  • Monitor contractors' activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, design intent, and expectations of end users.
  • Coordinate all construction activity, including start-up and commissioning, to minimize impact on ongoing park operations and ensure all agreed upon park requirements are met.
  • Oversee and execute all aspects of contract administration, including change management & control, cost forecasting and reporting, safety management, environmental oversight, scheduling, tracking, material management & procurement, and overall quality control.
  • Responsible for the execution of assigned capital projects. -Oversee and direct project consultants and vendors throughout the project development process.
  • Collaborate with park and corporate staff to establish and incorporate end user criteria.
  • Coordinate and lead project review meetings ensuring comprehensive review by all park disciplines at appropriate stages of project development.
  • Maintain project budgets and schedules while preserving design intent and project scope.
  • Perform quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) review of project documentation.
  • Scrutinize bid and construction documents to ensure established design criteria and intent has been achieved, and applicable SEA standards, policies, controls, and procedures have been adhered to. Analyze constructability and develop and implement project execution strategies.
  • Support and actively participate in the creative development processes throughout concept development, refinement, and sign-off, before assuming overall responsibility for design development and project advancement. Responsibility includes ongoing collaboration with corporate Attractions leadership and management in order to achieve creative intent in balance with project budget, schedule and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with SEA sourcing, Attractions group, and park Design & Engineering staff to identify and prequalify bidders for all anticipated bid packages.
  • Work with SEA Sourcing to administer the bidding process, analyze bids, and draft and execute contracts in compliance with SEA's Capital Projects Controls and Procedures.
  • Develop Scope of Work and RFP's for specialty trades requiring extensive design scrutiny.

What it takes to succeed

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or other related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Architect preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years combined experience in architecture, engineering, or project management, including design and construction management, preferably in a major theme park environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the project development process, including programming, design, project scheduling, budgeting, estimating, bidding, negotiating, managing the means & methods of construction, as well as overseeing project closeout.
  • Technical and functional knowledge of site and building systems, as well as code and other related requirements, for site utilities, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water filtration, fire protection, etc.
  • Functional knowledge of specialty technology systems used within the theme park industry.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, project estimates, schedule of values, and contractual terms and conditions.
  • Must have experience using AutoCAD, or other drafting programs.
  • Excellent communication skills – oral & written. Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple project processes simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective plans and strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to effectively lead a diverse group of design, engineering and technical professionals, and flourish in a highly collaborative environment.

Compensation: 90, ,000 USD Annually

Pay: $90, $95,000.00 per year
