Surgical Technologist - New Haven at Yale New Haven Health summary: The Surgical Technologist Specialty Lead supports and mentors surgical technologists while coordinating perioperative care in specific surgical specialties. This role interfaces directly with surgeons, manages operational efficiencies in the operating room, and ensures quality and safety standards are met. These values - integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion - must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Perioperative Surgical Technologist Specialty Lead partners with the RN Specialty Coordinator to organize patient care activities and serves as the primary Surgical Technologist clinical resource to the Operating Room team in the designated specialty(s) to provide high quality surgical care. The Surgical Tech Specialty Lead supports the overall coordination of the surgical specialty and actively collaborates with physicians and staff to facilitate the dynamic environment of perioperative services. The Surgical Tech Specialty Lead will also support coordination of competency-based experiences to Surgical Technologist and onboarding of Surgical Technologists at Yale New Haven Hospital.EEO/AA/Disability/VeteranResponsibilities1. Financial Management 5.1 Oversight of the OR throughput including first case start time and turn-around time QualificationsEDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited School of Surgical Technology. Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred.EXPERIENCEMinimum 2 years Surgical Technician experience.LICENSUREPreferred Surgical Technology Certification or attained within one year of hire into role.SPECIAL SKILLSDemonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills, maintains a high level of customer service, prioritizes needs of department and surgical specialty, and organizes operational efficiencies.PHYSICAL DEMANDRequires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing, and touch; moving/lifting of patients and instruments and equipment.
