This involves using a variety of diagnostic tools to identify issues with electrical components, compressors, refrigerant levels, and other system parts. Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure systems operate efficiently and extend their lifespan. This includes inspecting, cleaning, and testing components, as well as replacing filters and checking refrigerant levels. Customer Service: Interact directly with clients to explain issues, provide recommendations, and offer solutions. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining technical information in an understandable way and ensuring customer satisfaction. Mentorship and Supervision: Guide and train apprentices and junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices to help them develop their skills and prepare for their own journeyman certification. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used, hours spent, and any issues encountered. They also often generate invoices and estimates for services. Required Skills and Qualifications: KY HVAC Journeyman License, which requires passing a journeyman exam. Some roles may also require an EPA Universal Certification for handling refrigerants. A high school diploma or GED. Strong technical and mechanical skills, including the ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams, and a solid understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. Physical stamina to work in various conditions, including extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and at heights on ladders or rooftops. Problem-solving abilities to quickly and accurately diagnose complex system issues. A valid driver's license for traveling to different job sites.
