Job Description Job Description Job Description We are seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic Pilot group, which is responsible for launching new products. The role involves leading the process setup and validation for new models, ensuring manufacturability, and driving continuous improvement in our production processes. Responsibilities Lead the process setup and validation for new models, including mold trials, Design of Experiments (DOE), capability studies, and full production handoff. Collaborate with product design and tool designers to ensure parts and molds meet manufacturability and company standards. Develop and document standardized molding processes for each new tool to ensure consistency and repeatability. Oversee new mold fabrication, testing, and modification by working closely with tooling vendors and internal toolrooms. Conduct mold acceptance trials (T0/T1/T2) and provide feedback for tooling optimization. Establish robust process parameters for new tools and products. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Quality, Production, Tooling, Supply Chain, and Customers. Train production staff and technicians on new processes to ensure successful scale-up and long-term stability. Support standardization of mold designs, components, and processing methods across new product lines. Drive continuous improvement projects during new product launches to reduce cycle time, improve yield, and enhance manufacturability. Assist the launch team with various process preparation tasks, including process documentation, prototype event parts preparation, and customer documentation. Essential Skills Experience in automotive manufacturing. Proficiency in process improvement and mechanical engineering. Familiarity with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles. Expertise in plastic injection molding. Product development and project management skills. Knowledge of PLC programming and tooling design. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience. Ability to read part drawings using software such as AutoCAD and Catia. Strong communication and project management skills. Preferred: Over 3 years of experience in injection molding. Experience with new product development and process setup. Knowledge of APQP/PPAP and Six Sigma. Work Environment The position is set in an automotive manufacturing environment, primarily serving a major client. The plant specializes in manufacturing plastic components found on windshields and within cars. It features compression and injection molding processes. The work environment experiences heat in the summer and cooler temperatures in the winter. Proper personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, eyewear, and earplugs, is required on the manufacturing floor. The role operates on the first shift from 7 AM to 4 PM, with approximately 200 employees in the plant.
