The Hispanic and Immigrant Center of Alabama, HICA, is one of the most successful social impact organizations in Alabama and has been the major catalyst for the empowerment and economic progress of the Latino community for over 20 years. HICA is a non-profit organization with a successful track record of providing over 3,000 residents annually with quality services while advocating to local and state leaders for policies that improve the quality of life of all residents. We are searching for an experienced Director of Development with exceptional leadership skills and a strong ability to build relationships across various sectors. The Director of Development will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners, overseeing fundraising campaigns, and working closely with internal teams to ensure the organization's financial goals are met. You will be tasked with leading development initiatives, managing a team, and creating strategies to expand fundraising efforts. To be successful as a Director of Development, you should be highly organized, proactive, and have the ability to inspire your team to reach ambitious goals. A great Director of Development should have a deep understanding of fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, and grant management. You should be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, represent the organization in public forums, and deliver compelling presentations to diverse audiences. Responsibilities:* Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization’s goals and mission.* Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, prospects, and partners to secure funding and sponsorships.* Lead the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to maximize donor participation and contributions.* Oversee grant writing and submission processes, ensuring the organization meets deadlines and achieves successful outcomes.* Manage and mentor a team of development staff, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure objectives are met.* Build and maintain a donor database, ensuring that all communications, pledges, and gifts are accurately recorded and tracked.* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising efforts, analyzing data to refine strategies and improve outcomes.* Develop and manage the fundraising budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to maximize impact.* Collaborate with other departments to align fundraising initiatives with the organization’s overall strategic goals.* Represent the organization at public events, meetings, and conferences to raise awareness and promote the organization’s mission. Requirements:* Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).* 5+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development.* Strong knowledge of fundraising strategies, donor cultivation, and stewardship practices.* Proven ability to lead and manage a team, including delegating tasks and overseeing projects.* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.* Demonstrated experience in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.* Ability to develop and implement effective fundraising campaigns.* Knowledge of fundraising software and CRM systems.* Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners.* Strong organizational and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail.* Passion for the organization’s mission and a commitment to community engagement.
