The Sherman Early Childhood Center is a full-time Jewish preschool at Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, MD. We are committed to offering a safe and nurturing environment where learning happens through play, collaboration, and an integrated emergent curriculum.We are looking for a caring, nurturing, inspiring, and enthusiastic assistant teacher who can be a contributing professional team member. This position will work Monday - Friday, full time (8:30am-5:30pm or 7:30am-4:30pm depending on the needs of the classroom).Requirements:1-3 years of experience with ages 1-4.Creative, team player, excellent communicator, nurturing, dedicated, and flexible.Experience differentiating instruction for all learners.Responsibilities:Collaborate with the teaching team in planning, setting up, and implementing learning opportunities, using a child-centered, emergent curriculum.Support the school's educational philosophy, values, Jewish content, and the children's and family's experience.Ensure the safety of all children with proper supervision and care.Follow all school, synagogue, and requirements set by the Office of Childcare, MD State Department of Education.Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the teaching team and leadership regarding the students, families, and the classroom.Support the classroom team in documentation of student progress, and incidents and be familiar with all student needs and health issues.Participate in all team meetings and family programming assigned, beyond school hours.Physical ability to care and ensure the safety of all children including lifting, carrying, and running.Benefits:Medical, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees.Paid professional development.Generous paid holidays and PTO.Competitive salary with opportunity for supplemental income.
