- Practical hands-on experience configuring cisco switches with very complex configurations
- Extensive advanced troubleshooting experience on cisco 3000 and 4000 switches connected via fiber cable
- Advanced knowledge of MPLS networks and hands on troubleshooting
- Advanced knowledge of HPNA and setting up thresholds for monitoring capabilities.
- Knowledge of using network troubleshooting tools (ie. SNIFFERS, NETWORK PROTOCOL ANAYLYZERS)
- Knowledge of designing and documenting network designs using Visio.
- Extensive knowledge managing and administrating large and complex networks including: conducting cost-benefit analyses and total cost of ownership and capacity studies
- Knowledge of establishing security practices; developing contingency and recovery plans to ensure continuous availability and accessibility of network resources in the event of emergencies.
- Lead the implementation of major integrated IRS-wide projects that includes components such as: Configuration of routers, switches, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems
- Manage the design of major IRS-wide network architectures, including: Wired infrastructure, wireless technology, assist in evaluating and defining infrastructure requirements (ie. select hardware and software components, network planning, overseeing, testing and implementation of new network devices
- Cisco certs highly desirable
