JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTING MANAGER DEPT: FINANCE
REPORTS TO: Finance Director FLSA: EXEMPT
SALARY RANGE: Grade 2
JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee and supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and the accounting staff. Supervisory duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining the general ledger, payroll, benefits, accounts
receivable, accounts payable; analyzing accounts; maintaining the chart of accounts; validating bank reconciliations; and working with the budget department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure the correct and accurate accounting classification of all revenues, expenditures and documents.
- Reconcile tax (941) reports to the general ledger.
- Act as liaison with agency personnel regarding payroll and accounting policies and guidelines.
- Research and analyze a variety of accounting data.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Conduct special investigations as assigned to complete projects.
- Update the accounting manual for internal and external use as changes occur.
- Be responsible for maintaining assigned grants, and any other grants as directed.
- Compile and interpret funding source regulations and maintain compliance with agency grants.
- Supervise and train staff
- Participate in and coordinate the annual audit.
- Prepare billings, reconcile to the general ledger, and prepare journal entries.
- Prepare all financial reports, statements, and billings required by the funding sources on a timely basis.
- Prepare all financial information requested by the Finance or the Board of Directors' Finance Committee.
- Review all delegate agency reports and record data in the general ledger according to the approved budget.
- Recommend procedural changes for greater efficiency.
- Perform the function of Comptroller during his/her absence.
- Perform similar work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Two Years of work experience in accounting, general ledger, and Finance
- Two Years of work experience in supervisory capacity.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Thorough knowledge of all accounting function areas.
- Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting software.
