Head of Data Strategy

The Company:

This company is a retailer that has been around for over 50 years and is facing the challenge of rapid growth. They are looking to leverage Data and Analytics and are looking for a Senior Data Professional to lead their Data Transformation. They operate in a very fast-paced environment and bring an interesting seasonal challenge to the table that really sets this position apart from others.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the organization's data transformation initiative, driving the migration from the legacy Teradata platform to Azure, including the establishment of robust data lake architecture.
  • Collaborate with teams to design and implement data pipelines, ensuring smooth data ingestion, processing, and storage in the new ecosystem.
  • Work with the data team to identify opportunities for operational systems to generate valuable data points and enable data-driven analytics throughout the organization.
  • Partner with the product development organization to leverage data for optimizing supply chain processes, reconciling, and normalizing data from various sources.
  • Streamline shipping processes by analyzing supply chain data and identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining efficiency.
  • Develop a comprehensive data strategy, encompassing HR data, real estate data, and other relevant data sources, with a focus on integrating and utilizing data intelligently.
  • Build and lead a strong BI team, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to ensure the successful execution of data initiatives.
Skills And Experience:
  • Bachelor's required, Advanced Degree preferred in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data transformation projects, preferably involving migration to Azure and the establishment of data lakes.
  • Strong technical expertise in Azure platform services, Databricks, PowerBI and other relevant technologies
  • Solid understanding of data management principles, data governance, and data integration techniques.
  • Experience working with operational systems to identify data points and enable data analytics.
  • Proficiency in developing data strategies and roadmaps, aligning them with organizational goals.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading Data Strategy at a Brick-and-Mortar retail chain


The Benefits:

As the Head of Data Strategy, you will receive a $300,000- $325,000 + Bonus. This role also includes relocation compensation, 401k, health, dental, and vision care.
