American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for inpatient care, requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least two years of recent specialty experience.
Job Details
• Work in an inpatient oncology unit within a tertiary care, teaching, Level 1 trauma hospital,
• Primary oncology unit treating all cancer types across all phases of care, including chemotherapy regimens and post-surgical care,
• Step-down neuro overflow for stroke, head bleeds, and other neuro cases,
• Patient ratio is 1:5,
• Floats required to all intermediate areas within scope and between departments as needed,
• Day shifts with 3x12 hour schedule from 6:45 to 19:15,
• Weekend requirement of eight shifts per six-week period, with a mix of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit,
• Uses Epic charting system,
Job Requirements
• Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration,
• Minimum of 2 years recent oncology nursing experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap over 90 days,
• Current BLS certification,
• IV therapy and infusion expertise including management of ports, central lines, blood products, infusion pumps, and various medications,
• Experience with chemotherapy regimens and oncologic emergencies such as sepsis,
• Experience with post-surgical, uro-gyn and gyn-onc, and neuro overflow patient populations,
• PCA pump management, advanced symptom management, and pain management skills required,
• Ability to interpret and monitor telemetry required,
• Two recent professional references required, with at least one from a supervisor or above and another from a charge RN within the past year,
• Willingness to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include administering inpatient chemotherapy, managing oncologic emergencies, and providing postoperative care for oncology and select surgical patients,
• Must provide advanced psychosocial support and education to patients and families,
• Team environment includes support from charge RNs and multidisciplinary staff in a Magnet-recognized hospital,
• Pre-employment and annual modules required averaging 5-8 hours,
• Candidates must complete drug screening; assignments will be canceled if results are not cleared,
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted,
• No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per contract,
