American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Behavioral Health position in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting, requiring a MO or compact license and specialized behavioral health skills.
Job Details
• Work in a pediatric psychiatric hospital with acute inpatient behavioral health patient population,
• Assigned to Pediatric Behavioral Health unit with 46 staffed beds,
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:12 for day, night, and weekend shifts,
• RNs cover 8-12 patients and coordinate care alongside Behavioral Health Techs who maintain direct observation ratios per physician order,
• Shift is day (3x12 hours), 7:00-19:30, with every Sunday night, Friday night, or every other Friday night required,
• No floating required to other departments or units,
• Uses Epic for charting and EMR documentation,
Job Requirements
• Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration,
• Minimum 2 years recent behavioral health RN experience, with at least one year in specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gaps over 90 days,
• Experience with 1:12 patient ratio in psychiatric or behavioral health setting,
• Current BLS certification required,
• MANDT patient restraint certification required (can be obtained onsite if not already certified),
• Completion of Trauma Informed Care Training and Zero Suicide Training (provided onsite),
• Missouri Children's Division background check required,
• Two professional references from the past year, including one supervisor level reference,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include medication administration, overseeing behavioral interventions, and supporting unit safety protocols,
• Frequent care for children and adolescents with complex psychiatric disorders, including anxiety, mood, eating, personality, psychotic, and trauma-related disorders,
• Emergency response duties include participation in cardiac arrest/CPR, chemical restraint, and physical hold protocols,
• Training in de-escalation, crisis intervention, behavior management, and legal aspects such as seclusion and commitment procedures is required,
• Pre-employment compliance includes completion of modules, drug screening, and lab work within specified timeframes,
• EPIC EMR training must be completed before start date; test-out option available,
• Infusion pump and glucometer training required prior to start,
• RNs wear navy blue scrubs,
• Free parking available onsite,
• No travel partners accepted and candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility,
• Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed,
