We are seeking experienced backend engineers to join our Growth organization to help us build the next generation of innovative crypto products and features. You will address unique, large-scale, and complex technical challenges that arise at the intersection of web-scale applications and blockchain technology. Your contributions will be critical in developing the systems that make cryptocurrency accessible worldwide, focusing on real-time applications that require high-frequency, low-latency updates, all while managing rigorously secure cloud infrastructure.

The Growth team's goal is to fulfill Coinbase's mission of bringing the world onchain. You will play a vital role in developing tools that foster referral and incentive programs, establishing an exceptional notifications system, enhancing a dynamic and engaging web experience for non-logged-in users, and optimizing our onboarding process for new users, ensuring their success from the very first interaction.

What you'll be doing:

• Design and run experiments to fuel the growth of Coinbase's retail products.
• Build scalable systems to address unprecedented challenges using modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
• Communicate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems and the teams responsible for them.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to create a concrete roadmap every quarter.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer needs.

What we look for in you:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services with a strong understanding of service-oriented architecture.
• A passion for writing high-quality, well-tested code that addresses customer needs.
• A commitment to fostering an open financial system that connects diverse people and communities.

Nice to haves:

• Experience launching new products from the ground up.
• Familiarity with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of blockchain technology (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• A background in building fintech solutions, reliable systems, or secure systems.
• Experience with crypto and onchain activities, such as interacting with Ethereum addresses and utilizing dApps.

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include a target bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, and vision).

Pay Range: $191,000 CAD
