Your Role:

  • Lead diverse technology projects and manage a skilled team of developers specializing in distributed microservices and full stack systems, focused on creating regulatory compliance solutions.

  • Stay current with tech trends, experiment with cutting-edge technologies, engage in tech communities, mentor fellow engineers, and occasionally contribute to coding and code reviews.

  • Collaborate closely with digital product managers to deliver impactful cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans financially.

  • Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, Node.js, Go, and Scala; employ Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases; work with container orchestration services such as Docker and Kubernetes; and leverage a variety of AWS tools and services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (not including internships).

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.

  • 9+ years of experience in programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js.

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • 4+ years of experience with open source frameworks.

  • 1+ years of experience in a people management role.

  • 2+ years of experience applying Agile methodologies.

Capital One is open to sponsoring a qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.

This position is available in McLean, VA with an annual salary range of $225,400 - $257,200 and in Richmond, VA with an annual salary range of $204,900 - $233,800 for the Senior Back End Software Engineer role.

Please be aware that candidates hired for other locations will receive salary offers specific to their respective locations. Compensation may also include performance-based incentives, which could take the form of cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
