As a Director of Engineering at Capital One, you will play a key role in developing cutting-edge software solutions that range from customer-facing web and mobile applications to sophisticated back-end systems and machine learning models utilizing the latest big data techniques.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple teams of skilled software engineers focused on delivering quality products.

  • Mentor and support the professional growth of your engineering teams.

  • Collaborate with product managers to define application features and testing strategies.

  • Drive continuous improvement in software engineering practices and methodologies.

  • Work within Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support diverse technical solutions.

  • Ensure the quality, scalability, and resilience of the software solutions you oversee.

  • Bring an enthusiasm for emerging technologies, actively participating in tech communities and sharing knowledge with fellow engineers.

  • Foster an environment that values innovation, diversity, teamwork, and unconventional thinking.

  • Work collaboratively to enhance team productivity and efficiency.

  • Lead initiatives to deploy new and existing applications in AWS environments.

  • Transform existing monolithic applications into microservices architectures, while creating new microservices as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 7+ years of experience in software development

  • 5+ years of experience in managing people

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering

  • 10+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies

Capital One will consider sponsoring a qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.

The salaried range for this role in McLean, VA is $263,900 - $301,200. Actual salaries may vary based on location and experience. Additionally, this role is eligible for performance-based incentives.
