As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in transforming data capabilities at Capital One.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with Agile teams to design, implement, test, and support full-stack technical solutions using cutting-edge tools and technologies.

  • Team up with skilled developers focused on machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems.

  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, and explore both RDBMS and NoSQL databases, along with cloud-based data warehousing services like Redshift and Snowflake.

  • Stay on the pulse of technology trends, continually learning and experimenting with new technologies while mentoring fellow team members.

  • Partner with digital product managers to create robust, cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans in their financial journeys.

  • Conduct unit tests and code reviews to ensure high code quality and performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Minimum of 3 years in application development (internships not included).

  • At least 1 year of experience with big data technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in application development, including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.

  • 2+ years working with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

  • 3+ years with distributed data/computing tools such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL.

  • 2+ years of experience on real-time data and streaming applications.

  • 2+ years working with NoSQL databases (e.g., Mongo, Cassandra).

  • 2+ years of experience with data warehousing (Redshift or Snowflake).

  • 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting.

  • 2+ years applying Agile engineering practices.

This position is available in the following locations: McLean, VA, Plano, TX, Richmond, VA, Wilmington, DE. The salary range for the Senior Data Engineer role is as follows:

  • McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000
  • Plano, TX: $144,200 - $164,600
  • Richmond, VA: $144,200 - $164,600
  • Wilmington, DE: $144,200 - $164,600
