About the Role:
As a Project Engineer at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, you’ll support the structural design process from concept through construction, working closely with Project Managers and senior engineers to deliver high-quality, technically sound solutions. You’ll perform structural analyses, assist with design coordination, and maintain detailed project documentation while developing your technical and professional expertise in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
What You'll Do:
- Perform structural design and analysis under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist with preparing engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
- Conduct field observations and inspections, learning to assess site conditions and verify design intent.
- Coordinate structural designs with other disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.
- Support Project Managers with scheduling, planning, and tracking project milestones.
- Review shop drawings and identify discrepancies between design and construction documents.
- Maintain clear records of all design calculations, decisions, and deliverables.
- Apply engineering codes and standards with attention to accuracy, precision, and detail.
- Continue developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate and implement effective design solutions.
- BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in structural engineering (internship or entry-level experience accepted).
- Proficiency or familiarity with Revit, RISA 3D, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software.
- Understanding of structural materials, codes, and construction methods.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn from senior engineers and mentors.
- Bachelor of Science in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field; and five (5) years of experience in design and analysis of industrial, warehouse, distribution, and low-rise multi story buildings utilizing software packages such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, and SAFE; or
- Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field; and three (3) years of experience in design and analysis of industrial, warehouse, distribution, and low-rise multi story buildings utilizing software packages such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, and SAFE.
- Three years of relevant experience in in analyzing building structures using computer modeling methods and preparing structural calculations.
- Extensive knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices.
- Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
- Experience working in Revit.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, problem solving and team skills.
- Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or PE (Professional Engineer) license.
- Experience in precast and tilt-up buildings desired but not required.
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
At DeSimone, we believe in transparency when it comes to salary and hourly rates for our job postings. Our pay range represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that we think, in good faith, we might be willing to pay, for the posted job in the specified location(s).
This position is classified as salaried, exempt. The hiring salary range for this role is anticipated to be $65,000-$85,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
For this particular position, we expect to hire near the middle of the range. We understand that there may be rare and exceptional circumstances where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position. In these cases, we may consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
