Remote Opportunity - Open to Candidates Across the United States
SUMMARY: The Director of New Product Strategy will spearhead initiatives to enhance Lundbeck's Focused Innovator strategy by evaluating and developing both organic and inorganic pipeline opportunities. This role involves collaboration with U.S. and HQ teams to drive comprehensive commercial assessments, support business development initiatives, and craft differentiated product strategies. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy & Portfolio Management, you'll work closely with Global New Asset Strategy, Business Development, and Customer Insights & Analytics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
New Product Planning Team
- Collaborate with Global New Asset Strategy and U.S. teams to evaluate internal pipeline and external asset opportunities for U.S. launch readiness.
- Serve as a U.S. representative within the Commercial/Access/Medical (CAM) team focusing on late lifecycle pipeline assets.
- Gain insights into market size, competitive landscape, payer environment, and unmet needs within targeted disease areas.
- Identify key customers, KOLs, and advocacy organizations, and engage with them as necessary to assess opportunities.
- Provide strategic direction for primary and secondary market research to understand full opportunity size and market potential.
- Develop and execute comprehensive launch plans for late-stage assets in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Associate Director of U.S. New Product Planning to enhance internal capabilities and deliver exemplary business case evaluations.
Strategic Partnerships
- Collaborate with the U.S. Market Access and Pricing team, along with Government Affairs, to gather insights on potential impacts related to future cases.
- Establish effective partnerships with global business development and other U.S. functions including Commercial and Medical.
- Work closely with the U.S. Pricing team to incorporate pricing, market access, and GTN assumptions into each business case.
- Collaborate with R&D and Medical teams to ensure proper Target Product Profile (TPP) development, including clinical trial endpoints.
Leader of Cross-Functional U.S. Teams
- Build strong working relationships across medical, marketing, market access, forecasting, finance, and business development teams to enable data-driven decision making.
- Lead cross-functional matrix project teams by setting objectives, priorities, and aligning them with strategic goals.
- Develop key metrics and success indicators while proactively identifying and overcoming obstacles.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, and COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry, with at least 4 years in a commercial capacity.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Established track record in developing actionable steps aligned with business strategy.
- Collaborative mindset with experience building trusted partnerships and managing stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate actionable strategic insights.
- Proficient in making timely, informed decisions in uncertain conditions.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of persuading and influencing diverse audiences.
- Accountable for delivering results with clear ownership of projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field, or an accredited MBA.
- Relevant experience in market access, business development, or commercial roles within the pharmaceutical sector.
- International/global experience is highly advantageous.
- Preference for candidates based in the Deerfield, IL office.
TRAVEL:
- Willingness to travel up to 30%, including both domestic and occasional international trips.
- Additional travel to Deerfield, IL will be necessary for remote candidates to meet job and business requirements.
The salary range is national, and the selected candidate's compensation may vary based on location, qualifications, skills, and proficiency in the role. Salary Pay Range: $200,000 - $240,000 with a bonus target of 25% based on both company and individual performance, along with eligibility for the company's long-term incentive plan.
