Seattle Central College is looking to hire two Student Support Specialists in the Healthcare and Human Services Program
Salary Range for this position is $61,512 to $80,820 annually (depending on experience).
Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin November 28th, 2025.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Dean of the Healthcare & Human Services Division, the Student Support Specialist will work closely with students enrolled in either the clinical or didactic HHS programs. This role focuses on providing guidance from entry through completion and ensures alignment with licensure/certification/accreditation requirements, institutional policies and procedures, and industry & community standards. This position will support students via academic career planning, career exploration, resource referrals, and will help to navigate both curriculum requirements and external credentialing expectations.
This position is designated as a Project Employee role, with employment contingent upon time-limited grant funding; the expected end date will be provided in writing upon appointment.
These positions are full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
These positions work a hybrid schedule of both remote and on-site work.
These positions are governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by The Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) .

What you will be working on:
STUDENT INTERACTIONS
- Support racially and culturally diverse student population that spans a broad range of languages, identities, socio-economic levels, and educational experiences.
- Provide inclusive and culturally responsive academic and professional wrap-around support to all students in HHS including but not limited to, successful study habits, work experience, transfer preparation, financial aid assistance, referrals to on- and off-campus services as needed, etc.
- Maintain records (both electronically and in files) documenting services provided such as needs assessments, placement assessment scores, financial aid information, educational/career plans, progress reports, instructor contacts, grades, follow-up information and referrals.
- Monitor student progress towards degree/ certificate requirements and educational goals, intervening when necessary.
- Provide intrusive confidential one-on-one advising and educational planning to assist HHS students in successful transition to college-level programs, including advising students with course selection and the development of individualized educational goals.
- Provide electronic and in-person support for applicant questions, sending admissions materials, and reviewing applications and transcripts for program readiness.
- Assist students with understanding and completing financial aid applications and educate students on their options for grants and scholarships, as well as provide financial literacy training.
- Work with the Registrar, Workforce staff, community-based partners and Financial Aid to accept new clinical and didactic students, providing enrollment support for clinical and/or didactic courses to students.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement new student orientation, summer bridge, and supervisor orientations.
- Coordinate and conduct outreach efforts such as information sessions with on- and off-campus partners, including community-based social service agencies.
- Stay current with trends and knowledge regarding HHS students, including maintaining up-to-date-knowledge of licensure and certification requirements for Washington State and help students to understand these when planning their courses.
- Collaborate with faculty, program directors, and external partners to ensure coherent advising alignment of curriculum with workforce and community needs.
- Provide other duties as assigned to promote and advance goals of HHS division and support HHS students consistent with the role and functions of this position.
- EDUCATION: Master¿s Degree in a healthcare, or human service field with five years in education OR equivalent education/experience.
