Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate new suppliers for raw materials, components, and MRO items.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
- Generate and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with production to optimize material availability and minimize stockouts.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality departments to ensure purchased materials meet technical and quality standards.
- Conduct market research to identify supply chain trends, potential risks, and alternative sourcing options.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
- 3-5+ years of direct purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) for purchasing functions.
- Demonstrated strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, or bills of material.
- Proven track record of achieving cost savings and supply chain efficiencies.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technical specifications (e.g., machining, injection molding).
- Experience with advanced ERP/MRP functionalities or implementation projects.
- Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement certification/experience.
- Experience in global sourcing and managing international supply chains.
