Qualifications:

Master's degree required, in Educational Leadership, preferred

Valid Texas Principal Certification, preferred

Online Instructor Certification (i.e., Quality Matters), or willing to complete

Knowledge of master scheduling and hiring procedures

Demonstrated ability in the research, development and delivery of innovative strategies

Familiarity with TEA rules and guidelines related to TEKS and all courses in KISD unit plans

Strong interpersonal skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Primary Purpose:

Work collaboratively to provide the expertise, organization and direction for the Innovative Pathways opportunities for students and staff. This position will coordinate with the Director of Innovative Pathways and the Innovative Pathways Principal to support virtual instruction including scheduling, staff training, and budgeting.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Support the virtual instruction needs as requested by the Innovative Pathways Principal to ensure flexible student access to virtual coursework.
  2. Supervise and set goals for Innovative Pathways Specialists in conjunction with the Director of Innovative Pathways and the Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership and Campus Support.
  3. Collaborate with the Coordinator of Innovative Pathways Student Support to ensure student and staff success in the virtual environment.
  4. Extend virtual instruction opportunities to students and staff through innovative programming approved by the District.
  5. Maintain the credit recovery programs and other interventions to support students' graduation programming.
  6. Assist with hiring and scheduling of adjunct teaching staff for virtual courses.
  7. Organize and ensure accuracy of adjunct teacher pay/stipends with the Director of Innovative Pathways.
  8. Review and ensure consistent implementation of the District's Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct to support appropriate discipline.
  9. Create and help present the professional development coursework for Virtual Teacher Training (VTT) and Online Instructor Certification (OIC).
  10. Develop and deliver mandatory orientation for virtual instructors each semester along with the Innovative Pathways Principal.
  11. Research and maintain up-to-date information regarding the implementation of a virtual school program.
  12. Coordinate with the Teaching & Learning and School Leadership Departments related to appropriate software and technology needs for virtual instruction, as well as the best methods for delivering virtual coursework to teachers and students.
  13. Coordinate and communicate the testing and deployment of applications with the Technology Department.
  14. Provides leadership for enhancing the visibility, enrollment, and resources of virtual instruction.
  15. Serve as an ambassador for Innovative Pathways and best practices for virtual instruction with campuses, parents, and community.
  16. Work collaboratively with other departments.
  17. Oversee processes to ensure students are on target to meet the deadlines for virtual course completion.
  18. Establish and coordinate project timelines for implementation of goals with stakeholders.
  19. Demonstrate initiative to identify job tasks relevant to supporting and growing virtual instruction and apply commitment to tasks.
  20. Compile and maintain all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  21. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  22. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  23. Perform other such duties as required and/or assigned by the Director of Innovative Pathways.
Equipment Used:

Personal computer, printer, copier, and instructional technology tools identified for assigned virtual instruction.

Working Conditions:
  1. Ability to maintain a positive attitude under the stress of frequent interruptions, multiple tasks, deadlines, and technical problems/delays.
  2. Travel within district may be necessary.
  3. Occasional changes in working hours for professional development and other events.
  4. Occasional standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
  5. Occasional lifting over ten pounds.
