System Support Specialist - (SSS)
Location: McAllen TX - 1 FTE

Responsibilities/Duties - This position provides troubleshooting assistance and problem resolution for computer systems in a variety of environments. Such assistance and resolution are provided for personal computers, servers and Local Area Networks (LANs). The SSS provides support to distributed PC/networking environment including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals. The SSS performs technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages. Job duties require the SSS to install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, and other application software programs. In this position, the incumbent troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs, resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software. The SSS will also provide help desk functions via email, phone, or in person.

Qualifications - Experience providing direct end-user support for the applications being supported, including both telephone support and on-site assistance to users. Certain applications may require certification by the software provider. Prior teaching/training experience involving computer applications, preferably database, imaging, or other automated litigation support applications strongly preferred. Must have hands-on familiarity with the network, telecommunications, and operating systems environment of the applications being supported. Prior experience in automated litigation support preferred.

Experience with DOJ office automation environments is extremely helpful; should be an expert user of the Government's word processing, spreadsheet, and email systems. Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Pleasant telephone manner important. Undergraduate degree valued

Position Details:

  • Pay Rate / Range:$30-34/hr
The above salary range represents the range expected for the position; however, final salary offers are based on a number of factors such as the position's responsibilities; the candidate's experience, education, and skills; location; travel required; and current market conditions.
