Job Title: CT Technologist

License: Licensed by the state's Board of Medical Imaging
Certifications: ARRT (CT), BLS, ARRT (R, N) or NMTCB

Must-Have:
Proficient in IV/Angio-cath starts and administration of contrast media via power injection
Must possess ARRT (CT) certification within 6 months of hire if not already certified

Description:
The CT Technologist position provides technical diagnostic support.
The technologist operates multi-detector CT scan equipment to capture and process images for medical diagnosis.
This role promotes high quality, cost-effective, family-oriented service.
The CT Technologist helps create a collaborative environment that integrates education, research, and clinical leadership.
Technologists work with patients of all ages, including infants, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:
Operates multi-slice CT scanners to perform examinations with accuracy and efficiency.
Demonstrates knowledge in evaluating anatomy and related pathologies for presentation to the Radiologist.
Demonstrates knowledge in CT physics and radiation safety.
Exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations related to patient care.
Prepares and instructs patients for diagnostic exams using age-appropriate communication skills.
Adjusts scanning factors and patient positioning to minimize artifacts.
Adheres to the ALARA principle while optimizing exams for the best image quality with minimal radiation exposure.
Continues to stay current regarding new CT technology hardware and software upgrades.

Verifies complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service.
Responsible for correctly identifying patients by complying with the patient identification policy.
Labels images accurately with patient demographics and required documentation.
Implements correct types of contrast and injection factors on a case-by-case basis.
Generates a CD or DVD of imaging exams as needed.

Provides personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment.
Adheres to established regulations and reports errors or unsafe conditions.
Protects patients and staff by following universal precautions.
Explains procedures to patients to ensure clear communication and alleviate anxiety.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Assists in scheduling examinations and collaborates in planning patient schedules.
Utilizes transportation systems to arrange for patient delivery and calls for assistance as needed.
Participates in clinical research studies and teaches technical and clinical skills to students and residents.

Keeps equipment and work areas neat and clean.
Maintains par levels of all supplies and performs quality control on diagnostic equipment.
Requests equipment maintenance as needed.

Practices professional communication, appearance, conduct, attendance, and attitude.
Demonstrates flexibility with workload and handles stressful situations effectively.
Maintains job-required licensure and continuing education in Radiology and Healthcare.
