Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) will apply the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver high-quality care and enhance the quality of life for patients. As a vital member of the clinical support team, the RN collaborates with multidisciplinary professionals to address the clinical needs of patients. The RN actively supports culture change initiatives and serves as a role model and mentor to colleagues.
This role requires a strong commitment to the philosophy and mission of Hebrew SeniorLife, emphasizing patient dignity and choice in everyday life. The RN will engage in the activities, work, and social environment of the units, aiming to make every patient interaction a positive, meaningful experience while ensuring safe and effective care delivery.

Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure care delivered is within professional nursing standards and HSL core competencies.
- Collaborate with the clinical support team (MD, NP, nurses, social workers, therapists, dietitians) to fulfill patient clinical needs and monitor care outcomes.
- Adhere to best practice recommendations and implement evidence-based interventions for optimal patient outcomes.
- Practice within a primary nursing model, maintaining accountability for assigned patients.
- Participate in care planning, supporting patient autonomy and individual choice.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation in electronic medical records.
- Identify and utilize necessary resources for effective care provision.
- Supervise clinical care provided by licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants.
- Engage in personal learning needs and professional development.
- Exhibit critical thinking in problem resolution.
- Serve as a professional behavior role model.
- Participate actively in shared governance and committees.
- Collaborate in developing new work processes and systems.
- Support elder assistants within the units.
- Proactively address safety concerns in the unit and community.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to quality monitoring and performance improvement projects.
- Assist with resident activities as needed.
- Coach and mentor all staff, including PCAs and LPNs.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities when assigned, including:
- Providing shift reports to incoming staff.
- Overseeing clinical operations on the assigned unit.
- Delegating task assignments to the team.
- Initiating necessary reports (e.g., DPH, incident reports).
- Ensuring proper admissions and discharges during shifts.
- Overseeing LPN assessments and co-signing nursing assessments and care plans.
- If acting as charge nurse, develop patient care assignments and contribute to staff evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Current Massachusetts RN license in good standing.
- Previous nursing experience preferred.
- Understanding and support of Hebrew SeniorLife’s care philosophy required.
- Must be a proactive, professional, and results-oriented individual, demonstrating excellent communication skills and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills are essential, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Must be adaptable to change and motivated to learn.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Proficient English language skills, both written and verbal.
Salary Range: $32.13 - $48.20
