Position Overview:
  • We are seeking an experienced Department Head - Electrical to lead and oversee electrical design projects within our firm. Reporting to the Office Manager, you will collaborate with Project Managers to ensure the successful design and implementation of electrical systems for various building projects.
  • The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong leadership skills, a passion for mentoring, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
  • Mentor and guide electrical design staff to enhance technical skills and project expertise.
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager to assign staff, manage workloads, and ensure project success.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of electrical project deliverables.
  • Support professional development through performance assessments and training initiatives.
  • Represent the firm as a subject matter expert in client meetings and project interviews.
Technical Expertise
  • Oversee the design of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, data/telecom, and fire alarm systems.
  • Perform lighting calculations, circuit design, and electrical switchgear layout.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead system evaluations and feasibility studies to optimize electrical solutions.
Project Oversight
  • Coordinate electrical design efforts across multi-disciplinary teams from concept through construction.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and financial targets.
  • ssist in developing project proposals, fee structures, and client deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
Business Development
  • Identify opportunities for new services and contribute to business growth strategies.
  • Maintain and expand client relationships to enhance the firm's reputation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Required:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (accredited institution).
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in electrical design, project engineering, or project management.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., Visual, Elum Tools, MS Office).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
