The School of Nursing at the University of Southern Maine is seeking part-time faculty to teach Adult Gerontology Acute Care Clinical Practicum and Seminar I (NUR 642) to a cohort of our Adult and Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) students for our Spring 2026 semester, beginning January 20, 2026.
This course will primarily be asynchronous online with some synchronous touch points throughout the semester. The seminar will be overseen by the AGACNP track lead and NP program director. Candidates are encouraged to teach in consecutive semesters but are not required to.
Adult Gerontology Acute Care Clinical Practicum and Seminar I (NUR 642) - This is the first of three sequential clinical practicum and seminars in the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP) concentration. This clinical experience allows the student to apply theoretical, scientific and evidence-based clinical knowledge in a supervised practicum to manage patients across the adult-older adult continuum.
Responsibilities include following the course descriptions and course outcomes to offer this three-credit course to 8 or less advanced practice (NP) graduate nursing students. Faculty will teach in conjunction with other AGACNP faculty, manage the course using the Brightspace learning management system. We are seeking student-focused instructors who will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. Responsibilities include developing the course, teaching, assessing student performance, and meeting with students as needed. The instructor will be provided with the course learning objectives, program competencies, and suggested topical outline and will be given a previous course syllabus for reference.
Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. Eligible part-time faculty members may elect certain benefits provided by the University of Maine System. In addition, The Center for Academic Innovation provides learning design consulting and faculty development opportunities to help faculty to create engaging programs, courses and lesson plans grounded in evidence-based best practices for every modality.

- MS in nursing with APRN certification and licensure.
- Current active Maine RN and APRN license
